What Does a Coach Do?
- Understands who you are - your values and goals.
- Asks you powerful questions, allowing you to look powerfully at who you are and what you want.
- Assists you in deepening your understanding of who you are by establishing your vision for your life.
- Provides a supportive place for you to grow and develop in the areas you have identified.
The coaching relationship allows you to discover things you did not know - unexplored territory!
How Coaching Works:
In the coaching relationship, the client and the coach form a powerful alliance for the benefit of the client.
Unlike other professional alliances such as therapy or consulting, the client agrees to grant power to the coaching alliance/partnership rather than to the coach.
The coach and client are powerful participants on a team. The team is committed to the client's progress toward their goals or vision.
The client is expected to be consistently mindful of what he/she needs so they can request that from the coach.
Coaching is a professional client-centered relationship. The client is the primary focus of the relationship. The coach sees the client as having the innate expertise and willingness needed to achieve success. The coach's role is to forward the client's action toward his or her goal and provide on-going clarity, focus and support during this process.
A coach is hired to facilitate the client getting what the client wants in life. This is the client's agenda.
The coach's purpose is always to facilitate the client's agenda. This is the powerful aspect of coaching, it requires a mindfully selfless attitude from the coach. The coach holds the client's agenda and this offers the client a depth of support that is seldom experienced elsewhere.

Testimonials:
"Shannon has been an inspiration in my life. Through coaching, she worked with me on building stronger relationships with my family. Within a year, this not only improved, but also my relationship with friends and coworkers. In addition, my self esteem increased dramatically. Thank you so much Shannon, for everything!" C.H., Assistant Manager Software Quality Assurance
"After allowing my Corporate career to "steal" personal time and creativity for years and being very frustrated over this...I started coaching with Shannon. We worked closely together for a year with a focus on clearing space, time and fearlessness for art and creativity. This time was hugely satisfying and successful. The year culminated for me with the creation of a book of artwork I created over the year! I have also been able to continue to create, or if at times of having to focus on other things for a time - I still have that sense of "growth and movement" that tells me that no matter what - I am more about my creative authentic self. I also learned to take a stand for myself and this strength has been with me while taking time and space for myself and in helping me to keep a balance between the life on life's terms and happenings that are part of living." L.H., Consultant GE Medical Systems
"I found Shannon to be upbeat, positive, cooperative, easy to work with, able to gain the cooperation from others in order to complete projects. She produced top-notch high-quality work." Carol Richards, Formerly Human Resources Manager, Cargill, Inc.
"Shannon is one of the most authentic and compassionate professionals I have ever worked with. She takes the time to truly understand and assess the needs of the organization, team or individual.....and then guides and facilitates growth and discovery for long-term results." Karla Montgomery, Organizational Development Professional / Instructional Designer
"Reflecting on my Lifethreads experience - Shannon and I have coached together for some time now. Shannon has been there to be better to me than I am to myself sometimes, or really better to me before I might be ready, on a given day, to be good to myself. I have appreciated her perspective on issues from work life to family to spirituality. We have talked together about the mundane and the profound. She is always willing to gently call me out at times when I am not being real to who I should be, the best version of my own self. She is the person we should all be for one another, an example of energetic support and guide. I have enjoyed my experiences with her, sometimes more the day after a call when I review what we have said and an aspect of my life will shift and fall into a new, better place. She has kept me on the course I am currently setting, rather than be pulled too far back to old patterns and places where I might get stuck again. I look forward to her help as I move towards my best place in this world." T.L.
