Coaching Frequently Asked Questions

What is Coaching?
Coaching is an interactive process that helps individuals and organizations to develop more rapidly and produce more satisfying results. Coaches work with clients in all areas including business, career, finances, health, spirituality and relationships. As a result of coaching, people set better goals, take more action, make better decisions and more fully use their natural strengths.

How does it work?
Sessions are held in person or over the phone. Coaches are highly trained professionals, experienced in active listening. They ask powerful questions, use intuitive sensing, and help a person think out loud, providing thoughts to be heard and solutions to be identified. Coaching is an ongoing relationship that helps people make decisions that are right for them, making positive changes in their personal and career life. Through coaching, dreams are fulfilled and life balance is achieved. You feel good about the way you are living your life.

How often do you meet with a Coach?
For best results, you coach once a week. This keeps the momentum going and provides the best support.

How is coaching different from counseling?
Coaching moves a person forward toward the future and helps you reach your dreams. Coaching concentrates on what is working and what is right in your life, and helps you achieve more of that. It does not dwell on the past, but looks for the future coming toward you.

Who uses a Coach?
People of all walks of life use a Coach. People in transition in life (personal or career), business people who want to increase their bottom line, single individuals looking to create a relationship in their life, working moms who want to find balance, stepparents who need guidance, college students needing focus on an area of study, teenagers who need clarity and structure, elders living the prime of their life and want to make golden year choices, people in mid-life who want more out of life, professionals who want a neutral person to support them to help to gain leadership skills.

What can a person get out of working with a Coach?
Working with a Coach will give you clarity about your life, clarity about what you value as a person, and the clarity to make life choices that are right for you. This results in freedom from burden, less stress and more fulfillment. Coaching can help you find your unique gifts and life purpose.

Where's the proof?
Coaching is a newer profession, the 2nd fastest growing profession after IT (2000), being recognized as a professional entity by the creation of coaching competencies, credentialing and ethics. The governing authority for this profession is the International Coaching Organization, providing standards for coaches around the world. Coaching has been recognized and praised in numerous worldwide publications as well as on Oprah. Please link to the International Coach Federation (www.internationalcoachfederation.org) for reference to these articles.

Do Coaches have a Coach?
Absolutely! Coaches know first hand the value of coaching from their direct relationship with their own coach, and as a client. Coaches usually maintain a relationship with a Coach for their personal fulfillment and to keep them on track with their own goals and values.
