Parent Coaching Vision:
To ensure parents act in the best interest of their children during this family transition. To provide the best possible environment for children to ensure their healthy growth and development.
Our parent coaching model takes two forms:
1. Pro-Active Parent Coaching
in which parents choose to bring a Parent Coach in to work with them to ensure their children's needs are met in the best manner possible. Parents are coached on issues relating to their children and their divorce.
Areas of focus may include:
- Parenting Plans – ensuring that both parents decide what will be best for the child going forward
- Coaching regarding the children and their best interest
- Effective communication with the co-parent
- Effective communication with the children
- Settling conflicts between the two parties proactively prior to court intervention
2. Court Mandated Parent Coaching
This form of parent coaching is legally called parent coordination in the courts. In this model, we work with parents who are usually in a high conflict situation, have spent time in the court system and now must work with a professional that can assist them in finding solutions for working effectively as a team to parent their children. The parenting coordinator acts in the following capacity:
- Assists the parents in implementing an already-ordered parenting plan to benefit the children.
- Is a neutral third party.
- Assists in the resolution of disputes between parties.
Decision Making
Another aspect to our parent coaching is Decision-Making. The parents may choose to appoint the PC a decision-maker. If the Parent Coordinator is also appointed a Decision Maker (DM), the DM has binding authority to resolve disputes between the parties as to the implementation or clarification of existing orders concerning:
- Parenting Time
- Child Support
- Other agreed-upon specific disputed parental decisions as stipulated in the appointment of a decision-maker.
